Does my business really need a web site? Every business and organization should have a website. More and more people are using the Internet to searching for information on products and services they need. A web presence allows potential customers to find out about your products or service any time of the day or night. If consumers can't find any information on your business, they will most likely continue looking and your competitor will get their business.
Absolutely, but building your own web site has some disadvantages. The two main reasons most business owners prefer to hire someone to build their website is time and knowledge. It takes time to learn the various programs and tools used in web design and it takes knowledge to create a professional looking, easy-to-navigate and search engine friendly web design. Although you may have a website, if potential clients or customers can't find it or the information they are looking for or if the site looks amateurish, customers and potential clients may not find that you are a professional business worthy of their patronage. This is where a professional looking website can make a small business look more professional and a new business seem more established than it really is.
Depends. I can usually do a mock up template for your approval within a couple days and if you get me the materials I need (logo, photos, information on your products or services, etc.), I can usually complete a 3-5 page website within a week, 10 -15 page website within two weeks
Well, I am not a professional web designer as I have not gone to school or earned a degree in web design. I earned my experience in web design from learning and designing my own business websites for the past 5 years. As practise, I would design websites for friends or helped them redesign and maintain their site. This is how I became involved in professionally looking web design.
Yes. I only design websites for small and home based businesses and organizations.
There are different ways for people to find your website. Here are a few: 1. Tell all your friends, family and current clients your website address. Most likely they help spread the word by forwarding the information to their friends, family and acquaintances. Word of mouth or a reference is always a great way to get new clients and customers. 2. Send a Grand Opening email announcing your new site and use your website in your email signature on ALL correspondence from now on. This is a great way to advertise yourself without spending any money. 3. Advertise your website by putting your web address on all your marketing material; business cards, brochures, flyers and any print ads you currently use. Websites give more information that any print ad can offers so use the two together for maximum exposure. 4. I will make sure I use keywords in your meta-tags. This is important for your Search Engine Results. A major goal of most web designs is to be search-engine friendly. You want your site to be found by people looking for your product or service. Meta-tag keywords help move your website up the rankings so you can be found easier than other sites. You want to be on the first page, somewhere in the first 5 spots (hopefully #1 spot)
Search engines, including Google, Yahoo, MSN and others, work by gathering information about web sites and ranking those sites in order of importance. The higher a web site ranks in the search engines, the more likely it is to be visited when customers search for a particular word related to your business. They are important because they are the main way people get around on the Internet. If someone does not know your web site address, they may be able to find you just by searching for your business name or some of the things your web site talks about. It is beneficial to rank well in the search engines because it is “free advertising” for your business. Rest assured that your competition is or will soon be vying to rank on the search engines, so it is important that you get a site ranking for your business.
Your website should reflect your growing business. If your site is not regularly maintained, it becomes stagnant and out of date. Not only do you want potential clients to have your most current information but you want present clients to return and see if there is any new news or features. Web Maintenance includes:
Would you ever build a web site for my competitor? Business is business and I am a professional. Although I have built your website, we don't have an exclusive partnership. If your competition asks me to build a website for them, I will give them the same courtesy and professionalism I give you. |
